Do we need more platforms or utilise existing ones to pursue reforms?
Factions within political parties have tarnished democracy in this country and caused fracture in unity. Hopeful Malaysians especially the young remain in the dark on the prospect of equal opportunity for years to come.
MUDA has yet to be registered as a political party aimed at presenting youths a voice in government behind its sole MP Syed Saddiq from Muar but continue to play an active role in humanitarian work during the pandemic. They have played their part very well in society and continue to make their ideals known in every issue concerning the people’s struggle. How have they fared among young professionals today in Malaysia?
We speak or reforms and fail to observe the ageism that concerns within most political parties. In fact,the idea of transforming beliefs in institutions is at an infant stage and to place our trust in new political parties may not necessarily be an optimal decision.
To make changes we need a clear end goal that is consistent with ideals barring any legacy issue. KEADILAN under Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim may have been under fire despite showing how they have remained resilient in the cause for reforms in this country despite going against the tide of protectionism.
Since the launch of a professional bureau under its Youth wing to entice younger Malaysian professionals to join politics with 26 founding members from various backgrounds, among which were doctors, lawyers, engineers and cyber security professionals.
Today a group of young activists have joined KEADILAN including Adam Adli and Asheeq Ali Sethi Alivi who are known for their idealism, commitment and struggle. Their participation is a reflection of the party’s recognition as a platform for youth to stand against abuse of the institutions in this country.
Sometimes it not so much about reinventing the wheel than it is to have the right team to fully operate the machinery with a clear purpose sharing the same philosophy and determination.
